Currently, Costco has 5 different dishwasher detergents for sale. I’m sure that each detergent works well but I wanted to find out which detergent has the lowest price per use. Costco Cascade Dishwasher Detergent Gel is the only detergent that isn’t in a single use pac. Therefore, comparing Cascade Gel to other detergents is a little more difficult. In this post, I’ll do a breakdown so that we can compare real detergent costs.
Costco Cascade Dishwasher Detergent Gel Price Breakdown
First, I need to determine how many mL of gel is used each time the dishwasher is used. Using measuring spoons, I measured my dishwasher as taking 20 ml per use.
Next, the Cascade Dishwasher Detergent Gel Bottle contains 2.83 litres of gel. So taking 2830 mililitres and dividing by 20 millilitres, equals 141 washes.
Finally, Cascade Dishwasher Detergent Gel is regularly priced at $9.99. Dividing by 141 washes, equals 7.01 cents/wash.
Dishwasher Detergent Price Summary (price/use)
Cascade Platinum Pac 22.3 cents/use
Cascade Power Clean Pac 17.4 cents/use
Finish All In 1 Pac 14.3 cents/use
Kirkland Signature Pac 10.4 cents/use
Cascade Advanced Power Gel 7.01 cents/use
* I’ve noticed that Cascade Advanced Power Gel frequently goes on sale(once every two months) at Costco for $7.99. Consequently, bringing the price down to 5.67 cents/use.
Therefore, Costco Cascade Advanced Power Gel is your least expensive per use option. I’d recommend trying it as it has always worked well for me. If you don’t like it, you can always return it and try something else. (Costco is pretty good when it comes to returns.)
