Costco Corona Panic Tips

Yesterday I visited Costco, and sadly the reports are true. People are panicking and buying up certain products in response to the Corona Virus. I don’t want to create more panic, but since this phenomenon seems to be especially prevalent at Costco, I can’t ignore it either. Some of the most in demand and sold out items are toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, and even bags of rice and flour. Here are my tips to for dealing with the Costco Corona Virus Panic.

Costco Corona Virus Panic Tips

1. Don’t panic – While certain necessities like toilet paper are temporarily sold out. It is just that, temporary. Costco gets new stock all of the time. If the item you are looking for isn’t there, chances are it will be, the next time you visit.
2. But I need it now! – If you can’t wait, go to Wal-Mart or virtually any other store. I prefer shopping at Costco, but sometimes you just have to roll with it and temporarily buy elsewhere.
3. Ask an employee – If you are impatient like me, it never hurts to ask. I speak to Costco employees on the floor all the time. Yes, they are busy, but they are always friendly. If there is an item that you really want, just ask. The staff member might know when new stock is about to arrive. If they don’t, go to my next step.
4. Go to the Service Desk directly beside the cashiers – Usually there is a computer, near the cashiers. The employee there can look up items on the system and is able to see expected arrival times for new stock. In addition, if you happen to live in an area with more than one Costco, the employee  should be able to look up other Costco locations and inventory levels.

At the end of the day, I believe these shortages will be temporary. Hopefully things will settle down and quickly return to normal. 🙂
