Costco has great deals on items marked with an * ending with .97. The only problem is that when the deal is so good, the item quickly sells out. Here are my Costco Discontinued Items Strategy tips:
Costco Discontinued Items Strategy
Tip #1: Check with a Staff Member
Speak with a staff member with access to a computer so they can check out the inventory database. Quick tip: Take a picture of the item number (on the price tag). Doing so helps the staff member quickly locate the item.
Tip #2: Costco.ca or Costco.com
Try Costco.ca or Costco.com if you are in the United States. Many discontinued items can be found here, and Costco will send the item directly to you! Costco’s website increases the price to cover the mailing costs, but it’s worth it as delivery saves time and money.

For example, the Motorola G7 Play Unlocked SmartPhone was recently discontinued and saw a significant mark down. The G7 usually sells for $199.99, but was selling for $149.97. My local Costco quickly sold out and while I could get the phone at another Costco location, it was far. Subsequently, I went on Costco.ca and found it for $159.97. Yes, an extra $10, but totally worth saving me the time and expense driving across the city.
