I used to have a bank account at one of big Canadian banks but that was a long time ago. When the big banks started charging monthly fees for services they had previously provided at no charge, I knew it was time to find something better. I looked for alternatives and found President’s Choice(PC) Financial as they offered no fee banking. A few years ago President’s Choice Financial became Simplii Financial. Since then, not a whole lot has changed and I’ve stayed with them.
Most of my banking is done online. For the times that I do need some actual cash, I just find the nearest CIBC Instant Banking Machine and use it at no charge. Simplii also offers a number of other services that are either free or at a discounted rate, but I’m not going to go into all of that.
